Historically, the Prevention Needs Assessment (PNA) has been offered in Broome County since 2002 under the efforts of the KYDS (Keeping Youth Drug-free and Safe) Coalition through the Drug-free Communities Initiative. More recently , it has come under BC Promise Zone in 2013. The most recent results are from the academic year of 2013-2014 with local school district. The questionnaire assesses the attitudes and behaviors of students regarding academics, peers, and alcohol/drug use. Data from this survey allow us to become more aware of the precise needs of Broome County students and will allow districts and the community to assess trends and need programs in order for students and families to be successful in school, life and career. Eight school districts participated in the survey in the academic year 2013-2014. The survey will be administered again in this academic year of 2015-2016. The County results for this academic year will be available later in 2017.
