B.C. SAFE is a local suicide prevention coalition which strives to reduce the number of suicides and suicide attempts by increasing public awareness and providing educational and training resources to teens, parents, and educators of Broome County. Through a wide array of events and activities, local community leaders, educators, and professionals come together to provide the necessary procedures and advice in regards to suicide and mental illness.

Suicide is Not the Answer - Know the Warning Signs

  • Threatening to kill oneself or talking about wanting to kill oneself
  • Looking for ways to kill oneself by seeking access to firearms, available pills, or other means
  • Talking or writing about death, dying, or suicide
  • Feeling hopeless
  • Feeling trapped – like there’s no way out
  • Withdrawing from friends, family, and society
  • Experiencing dramatic mood changes
  • Seeing no reason for living or having no sense of purpose in life
